We will be exploring, then writing our own, of each text type. We will also be reading Little People, Big Dreams: Amelia Earhart.

Maths:

Place Value, Addition and Subtraction, Shape

This will include: representing numbers to 100; adding and subtracting 2-digit numbers; identifying properties of 2D and 3D shapes.

Science:

Healthy Humans and Homes, Hides and Habitats

Children will learn about the basic human needs for survival, including the importance of exercise, nutrition, and good hygiene. They will also learn about habitats and what they provide for the plants and animals that live there.

DT:

Marvellous Mechanisms

During this project, children will learn about three types of mechanisms: sliders, levers and linkages. They make models of each mechanism before designing and making a greetings card with a moving part.

Computing:

Route Explorers, The Internet, Creating Pictures

The children will learn to: use direction keys to move along a route, use the internet safely and appropriately; create a digital art piece.

RE:

What can we learn from sacred books?

The children will explore some stories from sacred books and how they are interpreted by believers.

Project:

Map Masters (Geography) and Flight Through Time (History)

During these projects, children will learn what an atlas is and how it helps us find places around the world. They will use the four cardinal compass points to follow and give directions, as well as learning how map keys use symbols to show important features.

They will also learn about the history of flight and how human invention and brave aviators have changed the world of aviation and our everyday lives.

Art & Design:

Colour Quest

During this project, children explore colour theory by studying the colour wheel, experimenting with colour mixing and learning about primary and secondary colours, before applying their understanding creatively in artwork.

PSHE:

Being me in my world, Celebrating difference

This will include developing empathy for others and understanding that every family is different.

Music:

Animals: Call and Response, Musical Storytelling

In these units, the children will use instruments to represent animals, and learn how events, actions and feelings within stories can be represented by pitch, dynamics and tempo.

PE:

Fundamental Ball Skills, Athletics

The children will develop their flexibility, control, balance and technique across each sport or activity.
