Rabbits Class

English

Over the next few terms, children will develop their English skills through writing autobiographies, non-chronological reports and riddles, learning to organise their ideas, use descriptive language and write for different purposes. Through the book study of Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge by Mem Fox, they will explore characters, memories and relationships, while developing their reading comprehension, vocabulary and discussion skills.

Maths

Over the next few terms, children will explore Place Value within 10, learning to recognise, count, order and represent numbers, before building confidence with Addition and Subtraction, using practical resources and simple strategies to solve calculations and problems. They will also investigate Shape, identifying and describing common 2D and 3D shapes.

Science

Marvellous Materials - Children will learn about the materials objects are made from and their properties. They identify everyday materials, explore where they come from and test properties to understand material choice. Seeing, Smelling, Sensing - Children will learn about the five senses and why they are important. They discover that humans are mammals, identify body parts and explore how senses help us understand the world and stay safe.

DT

Den Designers - In this project, children learn about the purpose of shelters and the materials used to make them. They explore different shelter types before designing, building and evaluating simple shelters together.

Computing

Children will explore creative ways to use technology, develop their digital skills and discover how data can be collected and represented through Intro to Purple Mash, Creative Computing and Data Explorers.

History / Geography

Local Explorers - In this project, children will learn what geography is, identify human and physical features, explore simple maps and keys, use compass directions and follow routes. They will then carry out fieldwork in the local area.
Helen Keller: A Life without Limits - In this project, children learn about Helen Keller and how she learned to communicate and campaign for people’s rights. They also explore Alexander Graham Bell and Louis Braille, using Braille to make their classroom more accessible for visually impaired people.

PSHE

Children will explore their identity, what makes them unique, and how we can celebrate and respect our differences through the topics Being Me in My World and Celebrating Difference.

Art & Design

Colour Creators - In this project, children learn about basic colour theory and how artists use colour. They explore the colour wheel, learn how primary colours mix and experiment with colour in their own artwork.

PE

Our days will be Monday and Wednesday. Children will develop their PE skills through Fundamentals, Ball Skills, Athletics, and Sending and Receiving.

Music

Children will develop their musical skills through exploring pulse and tempo in My Favourite Things and Snail and Mouse.

RE

In RE, we will explore the question of ‘Who is a Christian and what do they believe?’
