We Will Remember Them ...
Year 6 children spent the day at Dover Castle on Wednesday participating in a special World War 1 Remembrance event involving children from across the district. The children took part in a storytelling session, they learnt about nursing, illness and disease during the war. They took part in a poetry session and experienced the firing of the big gun. All children were given the material to make a poppy and an invitation to attend the Castle on Remembrance Sunday with their families to lay the poppy.
This was a wonderful experience for the children, fully funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Rachel Hudson, Education Officer at Dover Castle, sent me an email in which she said ‘All of the Dover Castle staff and performers have fed back how fantastic your students were – well behaved, polite and engaged, with such interesting and considered answers and questions. A true credit to all the staff and the school!’ This is super praise for our amazing children!
